House of Turkey was established as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of volunteers in San Diego, California in August, 2004. We were accepted as an affiliate member to the House of Pacific Relations based in Balboa Park, San Diego on November 7, 2004. After more than a year of hard work and much help from our active members, House of Turkey became an official member of House of Pacific Relations on November 6, 2005.
We have two main goals:
- Our first goal is to be part of House of Pacific Relations and share the Turkish culture, country and people with the International Community. The House of Pacific Relations brings together a group of over 30 countries in an effort to promote their culture, country and people in a non-political, non-religious way. This goal was officially reached for House of Turkey on November 6, 2005 when we became an official member of House of Pacific Relations.
- Our second goal is to build our own Turkish Cottage in Balboa Park, San Diego. Once more land is approved by the City of San Diego to be utilized for the expansion of the International Cottages and enough funding is obtained, House of Turkey’s Cottage will be built. This goal is a work in progress.
